I’m Tux! I’m a wonderful golden doodle. John & Chantel picked me out of a litter of 10! Can you believe my mom had 10 puppies? I must admit, I was the best of them all (everyone thinks so). I overheard (because I was trying to hear) Chantel tell the practice therapists that when she held me, I just “snoodeled on in” and she knew I was the best of the best, you know the GOAT – but in dog form. I don’t even know what snoodeled means, but she loved it and that is how I was chosen. The very first day home, she taught me how to hug. I though she would want me to learn to take my business outside, but nope it was hugging. So I’m a hugger, ohhhhhhh maybe that is what snoodeled on in means – hugging. So she didn’t teach me anything, I came already knowing that.
Well as I got a little older, it was time to start my training. I’m in basic obediance training through Island Dog International Dog Rescue. Earl and Jen are my amazing teachers (they love me too, I’m probably their favorite). I’m learning how to sit, lay down, and stay in place when all I really want to do is run. They said I did real great on my first day and that I must be a prodigy (GOAT)! Make sure you visit their website, they are such a wonderful part of our community. Their wildlife and domesticated rescue program helps so many of us. And if you need to learn how to sit, lay down, and stay instead of running around, have mom or dad give them a call – its not hard at all and you get a TON of treats while your doing it – puppy fat!
Once I pass my AKC Canine Good Citizen test, I’ll move on to Therapy Dog Training, and Service Dog Training. But while I’m learning, I go to the office almost every day with John. I love seeing all the clients, I can tell that petting me helps to bring down anxiety and John said I’m really good at knowing when someone needs me. I’m available to sit with all our clients in their sessions while I’m in training. Let your therapist know ahead of time and if I’m available, I’ll be right there to “snoodel on in” and let you pet me.
